between Trasimeno and Valdichiana

Looking down on the Great Lake from the top of Santa Lucia hill 360 metres above sea level, the gentle slopes of the vineyard are bathed in the suns energising rays from dawn to dusk, local farmers have cultivated these limestone slopes with its loamy soil, ideal for winemaking, for hundreds of years.

through the ages

dA hundred years after his family left the village to live in the then newborn capital of Italy, Rome, the Professor heard the call of his roots. Acquiring a little land on the edge of the village he set up a small farm with olive and hazelnut trees, a kitchen garden and a vineyard. Time passed, more land was added by his heirs and with a lot of passion and using advanced techniques a quality product was born, firstly just for friends tables but now available to other lovers of quality wine.

like a bonsai

The modern technique of planting with short pruned and closed spurred cord vines contributes to a very dense root structure per grape. Fertilizing, pruning, green harvesting selecting and picking the grapes is all done by hand ensuring that quality comes before quantity. At the end of the cycle each vine yields only one bottle of wine.

holy alliance

Cabernet Sauvignon, born in noble Burgundy, and our own Sangiovese grape combine to make a superior IGT red wine from the San Francesco region. Expert agronomists and oenologists monitor the wine making process continuously to ensure complete satisfaction for discerning palates who have come to expect only the best from the land of Umbria.DELBINDO is the splendid result of this commitment.

no more bricks

For centuries most of the village was built with bricks fired in the furnace that is now part of the Santa Lucia winery. The wine makers were also craftsmen, building their houses from the bricks they made. The steel tanks for first fermentation and the oak barriques for maturing the wine now stand on the patio where the bricks were formed. The old kiln, carved out of the limestone, is where the precious content of the Bordeaux bottles now rests and refines.
